This Ultimate Texas Sheet Cake Recipe is one for the books. It is a family jewel and treasure passed on for generations. I’m just kidding, My sweet, kind, and dear mother-in-law shared it with me. It also includes some of the best damn frosting you’ll ever have. I got all of my ingredients from my local Lee’s Marketplace!

Texas Sheet Cake

- Traeger Smoker
- Oven
Ingredients
Sheet Cake Ingredients
- 2 Cups Flour
- 2 Cups Sugar
- 1 Cup Butter
- 1/4 Cup Cocoa Powder
- 1 Cup Water
- 1/2 Cup Buttermilk
- 2 Eggs Large Eggs
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 1 Bag Small Marshmallows
Frosting
- 1/2 Cup Butter
- 1/2 Cup Crisco
- 5 tbsp Half & Half
- 1 Pinch Salt
- 1/4 Cup Cocoa Powder
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 4 Cups Powdered Sugar
Instructions
- Pre-heat Smoker or Oven to 400 degrees
- Combine the Flour and Sugar together in a kitchen aid or large bowl
- Put Butter, Cocoa powder, and water in a pot and bring it to a boil
- Combine all ingredients together
- Use Egg Beater or kitchenaid to mix together
- Pour mix into a cookie sheet and large cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees
- While the cake bakes, use egg beater / kitchenaid to mix frosting ingredients in a separate large bowl
- After 20 minutes , turn oven off and pull out cookie sheet.
- Smother cake with marshmallows and place the cookie sheet back inside the warm oven for roughly 3-5 minutes until the marshmallows have expanded slightly
- Let cake cool for 20 minutes then apply frosting on the top of the cake
- ENJOY
